Ingredients for Modak


  • Coconut - 1 Cup (200gram - Peeled & Chopped in small pieces) 
  • Sugar - 1/2 Cup(100 gram)
  • All purpose flour(Maida) - 1 Cup(100 gram) 
  • Semolina - 1/2 Cup (50 gram)
  • Mawa - 1 Cup (100 gram)
  • Water - 1/2 Cup
  • Pinch of Salt
  • Ghee - 4 spoon
  • Cardamom Powder - 1/2 tea spoon 
  • Dry Fruites- 1/2 Cup (Chopped)
  • Oil for fry




How to Make Modak



  • Prepare dough for modak
  • Place Maida in bowl
  • Add Semolina in that
  • Add pinch of salt
  • Add 2 spoon ghee
  • Mix well 
  • Add little little water & make hard dough
  • Dough is ready
  • Cover & keep it for rest approx 15-20 min
  • Meanwhile prepare stuffing for Modak


Preparation of Stuffing for Modak



  • Add 2 spoon Ghee in heated pan
  • Add gratted coconut in that
  • We had Fried coconut in medium flame approx 2 min
  • You can see that coconut color has changed light golden brown
  • Add Mawa in that
  • Add Sugar 
  • Mix all the ingredients
  • All ingredients mixed well
  • Add Dry fruites
  • Add Cardamom Powder
  • Mix..Mix..Mix
  • Stuffing is ready
  • we had cooked 2-3 min in low flame
  • Turn off the gas flame
  • Let's place this mixture into Bowl
  • Once cool down - will make modak
  • Dough is set for modak preparation


Making of Modak



  • Take small lumps from dough
  • Flatten it with the help of chakla belan
  • Make small puri
  • Fill with small stuffing in center
  • now give the modak shape
  • Modak is ready
  • Preapare all the Modak in same manner
  • All Modak's are ready - let's fry them


Frying of Modak



  • Place all Modak's in a medium warm Oil
  • Flip & fry in a medium flame 
  • Avoid to fry in high flame else it will be redish outside & not cooked inside
  • All Modak's fried light Golden brown 
  • Take them out in a plate


Serving & Platting



  • Serve this delicious Modak while Pooja.
